ASETS / Post Secondary Coordinator


Terms: Full Time Position

General Description:

The mission of the BLCN is to provide integrated services that will enhance, educate and empower NEHIYAW – PIMATISOWIN and self-sustaining community. The BLCN is a proud and safe holistic self-sustaining Nehiyaw Nation through the guidance, knowledge and sharing of miyo-wahkohtowin, leadership, and Elders founded on our inherent rights, law and the Treaty.

The ASETS Manager for Employment & training is responsible for the operation of the Aboriginal Skills & Employment Training Strategy (ASETS) program. The Manager ensures that assistance and support is provided to its Nations members for the development and implementation of community based training programs and initiatives.


Competencies and Requirements:

  • Employment and Training Intake / Follow up
  • Knowledge in funding initiatives for referrals
  • Working in partnership with all programs
  • Maintains current knowledge of employment locally enrolled in post secondary, trades and training
  • Process all new student application forms and inform them of spot of waiting list
  • Process all invoices to the accredited post secondary or trades and training institutes for eligible students
  • Obtain copies of student transcripts every semester
  • Ensure that Post Secondary Education allocation is provided equally to eligible students
  • Attend meetings as required

Employment Requirements:

  • Employment/Career Counselling
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Must have valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • Cree is an asset
  • Bondable

Busy Beaver Manager Position


Terms: Full Time Position
Salary: Based on Experience and Performance
Location: Beaver Lake Busy Beaver Community Store
Closing Date: November 20th, 2017

General Description:

The mission of the BLCN is to provide integrated services that will enhance, educate and empower NEHIYAW – PIMATISOWIN and self-sustaining community. The BLCN is a proud and safe holistic self-sustaining Nehiyaw Nation through the guidance, knowledge and sharing of miyo-wahkohtowin, leadership, and Elders founded on our inherent rights, law and the Treaty.

Beaver Lake Cree Nation requires a responsible and experienced Gas and Convenience Store Manager who will be responsible for the daily operations and profitability of the establishment according to set goals and business objectives. Daily operations will include staff scheduling, supervision and management, customer satisfaction, product quality assurance, store maintenance, and health and safety compliance.


Competencies and Requirements:

  • Attend meetings as required
  • On call 7 days/week
  • Email Supervisors / Leadership
  • Staff meetings when required
  • Entering and pricing of all items
  • Do all orders
  • Inventory of entire store
  • Take all Invoices to finance weekly & complete deposits
  • Do all Invoices for each department
  • Pick up mail from Band Office
  • Change gas prices as required
  • Work as a team player
  • Create schedules
  • Must be Customer Service focused
  • Check all duties are completed by staff

Employment Requirements:

  • Criminal Record Check
  • Must have valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • Effective communication skills
  • Computer literate

Security Personnel


Terms: Full Time Position
Salary: Based on Experience and Performance
Location: BLCN Band Office
Closing Date: Will remain open until filled

General Description:

The mission of the BLCN is to provide integrated services that will enhance, educate and empower NEHIYAW-PIMATISONWIN and self-sustaining community. The BLCN is a proud and safe holistic self-sustaining Nehiyaw Nation through the guidance, knowledge and sharing of miyo-wahkohtowin, leadership, and Elders founded on our inherent rights, law and Treaty.


Competencies and Requirements:

  • Work closely with Chief and Council, Band Administrator
  • Ensure all buildings and vehicles are secure during Security work hours
  • Ensure all exits are accessible at all times
  • Report malfunction and breakages of facility to Maintenance
  • Daily status reports to be handed in at end of shift
  • Regular patrols to the Busy Beaver Store
  • Perform other duties as required

Employment Requirements:

  • Security Certificate
  • Grade 12 Education
  • Maintain Confidentiality
  • A demonstrated positive role model
  • Professional demeaner during and off work hours
  • Current First Aid / CPR Certificate
  • Valid drivers license, submit a driver abstract
  • Provide a criminal record check
  • Ability to speak First Nation Language
  • Knowledge and understanding of First Nation culture and traditions
  • Willing to take training as required
  • Successful Candidate will be able to complete a Drug and Alcohol Test
